Coming from the city of Leiria, in the central coastal region of Portugal where several motorways and expressways converge, it is just a 10 km drive to reach GROTA. There are no alternatives to travelling by car, as the village of Fontes has no public transport. Upon arrival, vehicles are invited to park at the entrance to the village, near the chapel, or at the rear of GROTA. In Fontes, you enter a territory that encourages walking.
By Plane
From the international airports of Lisbon, Porto or Faro, you will need to travel to Leiria, which can take between 2 and 4 hours, depending on your point of departure. The A1 motorway provides this connection, but there are other options such as the A8 or A2. Alternatively, you can opt for the express train. Leiria is easily accessible, as it is located in the central coastal area of Portugal — one of the best areas served by transport links. From Leiria, you will need your own vehicle to reach Fontes.
